“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

I’ve never been fond of sitting in a metal tube 40,000 feet above the earth, especially in bad weather. Turbulence makes me nervous. However, my past career demanded that I fly to visit my clients. When we hit bumpy air, I would call out to God, “Please keep the plane in the air. Keep me safe.” The plane would eventually land and I would breathe a sigh of relief and go on my way. I’d put God on the backburner, until the next time I was frightened and wanted protection and care.

Do you have an “airplane” God too? One that you pray to only in hard times? Many of us do. We believe in Christ but we don’t have a real relationship with Him. We turn to Him only when frightened, confused, or in a hard spot in life. How much richer and fuller our lives would be if we allowed Christ into our lives and allowed Him to lead. He promised us amazing lives if we followed Him. Jesus did wondrous works. He told us that we could do these things too. How many of us attempt to walk as Jesus walked and do the things He did? Jesus gave us more than salvation. He gave us the opportunity to live amazing lives. But we have to be willing to enter into a daily relationship with Him, worship Him and obey Him. We have to be willing to do more than simply cry out to Him when we hit turbulence in our lives.

F.R.O.G. Practice: Start today to deepen your relationship with Christ. Talk to Him. Listen to Him. Dedicate yourself to Him. Turn to Him in all things. Give thanks to Him for the wonderful things He will give you.
