“Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Mark 4:3

God gives us His words, yet Satan comes and takes it away from some of us. Some of us hear the word but because we don’t have strong faith, the minute hardships come, we turn away from it. Others hear the word but are so bound to deceit, riches, and desires in this world that the word is choked out. Only those who hear the word and accept it, keep it and live by the it, bear fruit. (Mark 4:14-19) When we hear the word, accept it, keep it and live by it, we can live the fullest expression of ourselves.

It isn’t just Satan, hard times, or worldly desires that can keep us from hearing and living God’s word. Our own limiting beliefs can stop us from growing into our fullest expression. You know the beliefs I am talking about: you don’t feel that you are enough. You suffer from a low opinion of yourself. The word of God has a hard time growing in you because you don’t see yourself as a deserving child of God. Yet Jesus told us, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) All we have to do to overcome our limiting beliefs is to reach out and let God enter us. We don’t have to struggle and strive, God’s love and grace is freely given. We can bear much fruit if we allow God into our lives.

When you understand who you are in Christ, you can let go of your limiting beliefs. You can ask yourself in a very human moments of doubt or fear, “Why are you so downcast O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? For I will yet praise Him – my Savior and my Lord.” (Psalms 42:5)

God wants you to hear His word, to accept it, live it and to let it bear fruit. We are the eyes of the world in which we mirror back to God His amazing creation. That’s a big gift to give back to God. Let us make sure we are giving back the very best by letting go of our limiting beliefs, understanding who we are in Christ, and glorifying God in all we think, feel and do!

F.R.O.G. Practice: Catch yourself when you think a limiting thought about yourself. Remember that God’s word is within you and you are within Christ. There is no reason to belittle yourself.
