“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” (Luke 2:10)

Can you picture it? Shepherds were out in the field tending to their sheep. It was just an ordinary day at work. Wait a moment! An unusually bright star in the heavens appeared. The shepherds sensed that something important was happening, but what? Suddenly, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone all around them. An angel gave the shepherds an amazing message from God: Christ had been born!

God sent an “angel” to visit me, years ago. Of course when I tell people that, they scoff at the idea. It’s hard in this day of age to think that God still sends messengers to relay His word. God sent my dearest friend Kenny to visit me. Kenny had passed on seven years prior. I was startled out of my sleep to see Kenny sitting on my bed. I thought I was dying and he was helping me cross over. But he calmed my fear of having to leave my four children, and told me he had a message from God to give me. I was stunned! A message from God? For me? God took the time to send a messenger, for me? I’m not that important.

Kenny’s message was short and sweet. He told me that God wanted me to stop worrying so much. Everything was okay. Everything was in divine right order. That was it. Stop worrying. I’m so grateful for the message. Now, I’m passing that message on to you. God wants you to stop worrying!

God sends us messages all the time. They are not always shared through supernatural visits by glorious angels or people who have departed from this earthly plane. God sends us messages through each other and through His creation. All we need to do is to slow down, stop, and listen and take them to heart. God speaks to us all every day. What messages does God have just for you? Are you listening?

F.R.O.G. Practice: Slow down. Stop. Be still. Be open and aware of the messages God is delivering just to you.
