“By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”  (2 Peter 1:4)

How many times have you been disappointed because someone you cared about broke a promise they had made to you? It hurts doesn’t it, to feel so let down. We humans  sometimes have a hard time keeping our promises because we allow our own wants and desires overshadow our obligations. How wonderful it is then, to know that God keeps His promises to us! He (thankfully) isn’t human and we can stand firm on His promises to us.

God promised that:

  • He will meet our needs. (Philippians 4:19.)
  • His grace is sufficient for us. (II Corinthians 12:9).
  • We will have victory over death.  (Acts 2:32).
  • All things work together for good to those who love and serve Him. (Romans 8:28).
  • Those who believe in Jesus and are baptized for the forgiveness of sins will be saved. (Mark 16:16)
  • We will have eternal life. (John 10:27-28)
  • He is with us always. (Matthew 28:20)

What do we need to do to receive these amazing promises in our lives? We must open our hearts to God. We must obey His word. We must believe in Him.

No matter what hardship you are facing today, God has promised that He is there with you and He will make certain that it will be used for good. God will make sure you have food, shelter, and love. You can go about your day knowing you are forgiven. You can move ahead today knowing that you have been given God’s grace.

I saw firsthand God keeping His promises. When I was unable to work for years as I recovered from my brain injury, God kept a roof over my head and food on the table and clothes on my back. I wanted for nothing. On the days when I felt I couldn’t go on, His grace keep me going. Out of my tremendous suffering, God touched the lives of many, and turned a bad situation into something amazingly good. God never left my side the entire time I walked in the darkness. He was always there, always cradling me in His loving arms.

God is waiting for you, right now, to turn to Him and accept Him into your heart. He is waiting for you to ask for forgiveness of your sins and to follow Him. He promises you will get so very much in return for your obedience and service!

Today, go to God in prayer. Begin a deeper relationship with Him. Let Him lead you. Let Him keep his promises He made to you.
